Wessex Ridgeway (UK)
These photos are of the Wessex Ridgeway, taken when walking parts of the trail.
The Wessex Ridgeway runs from Marlborough (Wiltshire) to Lyme Regis (Dorset). Total distance is 222km (138 miles).
The trail is not a National Trail; therefore, waymarkers are not as prominent and require some searching.
Norway
I spent one August week in Norway.
Followed a Lonely Planet suggested an itinerary, starting in Oslo then moving onto the fjords at Geiranger, Bergen.
I returned to Oslo via boat along the Sognefjord and Aurlandsfjord and the famous Flam Steep railway from Flam to Myrdal to pick up the speed train back to Oslo.
Northern Cyprus
I visited the disputed territory of Northern Cyprus on a walking holiday.
I booked the tour “On Foot in Northern Cyprus” through the UK company Explore. Using a scale of Easy to Moderate, Explore rates the walk as Easy.
The 7-day walking holiday took in crusader castles, abbey ruins, abandoned Armenian villages, the cities of Nicosia and Famagusta, as well as mountain trails, fantastic food, and breathtaking scenery.
Tunisia
Spent two weeks in Tunisia visiting the capital Tunis, as well as the towns of Sidi Bou Said, Le Kef, Sousse, and El Jem.
Well worth a visit are the archaeological ruins (Punic, Carthaginian, and Roman) of Carthage, Dougga and El Jem.
The archaeological museum in Tunis, Bardo is one of the greatest in the world.
